Kelmer Neves has 21 years of professional experience. He studied at Ashworth College, Columbia University, New York University and University of California and speaks English, Portuguese and Spanish. Kelmer immigrated from Cabo Frio, Rio de Janeiro to the United States in 1999. Due to a mistake by his immigration lawyer, he received a deportation order and was subsequently sought by the FBI to be deported. His arduous legal battle lasted 15 years. His case reached the Supreme Court where it set a legal precedent(Neves Vs Holder). Today he is an American citizen and works helping immigrants in the United States. His story became a documentary and won three awards for best inspirational documentary in the United States and Europe. It inspired him to write the book entitled: "Impossible is an Opinion".

KyuIn Lee grew up watching her first generation immigrant parents navigate the U.S. immigration system her entire childhood... KyuIn Lee grew up watching her first generation immigrant parents navigate the U.S. immigration system her entire childhood. Filing paperwork, studying for the citizenship test, waiting, hoping, all while trying to raise a family in a new country, they were able to achieve their goal, but KyuIn never lost sight of the hardships she witnessed her family go through. This personal, direct experience led her to develop a strong passion in studying law. Raised in southern Georgia and spending her teens in southern California, KyuIn came of age in diverse immigrant and multi-cultural communities. She witnessed families’ troubles with the fear of deportation, language barriers, and bureaucratic confusion kept neighbors from accessing basic rights. At the same time, her family extends beyond South Korea. Having Korean-Guatemalan relatives in Guatemala taught her that immigration is shared across the globe. Such experiences drive her commitment and passion to help keep the law precise and just. KyuIn is a double major in Law, Public Policy, and Society, and in Religious Studies, and intends to transfer to the University of Chicago upon completing her two associates. Her academic work is rooted in questions of justice, belonging, and institutional change. She brings prior experience with legal paperwork, equipping her with necessary skills. Above all, KyuIn is driven by ambition and empathy. Her goal is to help others do what her parents had the privilege of doing.
